In this workshop, Norihito Ishii proposes an introduction to  Japanese contemporary butoh from his experience as both  a butoh dancer and contemporary dancer. We will work with the choreographic patterns of contemporary dance as well as more freely, moving the body from images and concepts created in the imagination. We will visit the movement basis and foundations of  Butoh, including the art of walking.

note from Marie-Gabrielle

This workshop will be an ideal opportunity to engage with the two pillars of butoh: Form and Spirit. Norihito reflects current developments in Butoh with the emphasis on diversity of expression as well as technical skill, often crossing and merging with the bounds of 'contemporary dance'.

The workshop is open to anyone with good levels of fitness. ch?v=bjshaE163Uk
